Libera me (2003)
Libera me was composed for the Sierra Entertainment/Relic Entertainment computer game Homeworld 2. It was originally composed to serve as the end credits music for the game, but was replaced at the last minute. It was featured in promotional materials, though.

The original Homeworld game used as its main theme Samuel Barber's Agnus Dei, his choral arrangement of his celebrated Adagio for Strings. To provide continuity, I chose to write a piece that was also based on a sacred Latin text, the "Libera me," or "Deliver me," from the traditional Requiem mass. The text is a prayer for deliverance from the day of wrath and destruction, which effectively supported the central conflict of the game. Although this was not consciously intended by the composer, one of the secondary themes contains an inversion of the principal motive from Barber's Adagio, providing a further connecting element.
